Educational Seminars
From golf course management and handicapping to club operations and caddie development, the MGA’s educational programs provide valuable insights, expert guidance, and opportunities for member clubs and golf communities to learn, connect, and stay informed.
Green Chair Education Series
The Green Chair Education Series, held each spring, is a forum for club Green Chairs and Golf Course Superintendents to discuss issues related to golf course maintenance and agronomy. Past series have included presentations by industry experts and representatives of the USGA Green Section.
Handicapping and Rules Seminars
The MGA annual Handicapping and Rules Seminars act as a refresher course for the World Handicap System, as well as the Rules of Golf. Hosted at Met Area clubs each spring, the seminars provide attendees with information regarding upgrades to the Handicap System. These seminars act as part of the WHS Authorization Program, where all member clubs need to complete a quiz and attend an educational seminar each year.
Presidents Council
An annual educational seminar that brings together expert speakers and club leaders to discuss timely and relevant topics on all areas of club operations. Legal issues affecting clubs, club renovations, employment practices, safety issues and changing club demographics are just some of the topics covered in the past at this one-day program, held annually in the fall.
Caddie Academies
Caddie Academies are free, after-school seminars held throughout the Met Area each spring and designed to teach the basics of caddieing to future loopers.
MGA Ambassador Program
The Ambassador program fosters open communication between the MGA and member clubs in the hopes of creating real solutions to any issue a club might face. This network of Ambassadors and their connections with their peers at other clubs will be a valuable resource of ideas, suggestions and solutions for all.
