The Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA), founded in 1897 at Delmonico’s in New York City, is one of the nation’s oldest and largest golf organizations. From its start with 26 founding clubs, the MGA has been dedicated to promoting the game and serving golfers across the Metropolitan Area. It’s original charter was to foster sportsmanship, conduct tournaments, provide handicaps and promote the best interests of the game.

Today, the MGA champions, invests in, and advances the game by delivering a comprehensive range of services and experiences. These include administering the World Handicap System, conducting some of the nation’s oldest and most respected championships, hosting member Play Days, clinics, and educational programs, and producing a portfolio of publications that inform and engage golfers throughout the region.

Through the MGA Foundation, the MGA extends its mission by providing junior competitions, affordable access to the game, support of youth caddie initiatives, scholarships, and an adaptive golf program.

The MGA is a designated Allied Golf Association (AGA) of the USGA and is proud to partner with the Westchester Golf Association (WGA) and Long Island Golf Association (LIGA).
