ELMSFORD, N.Y. (August 27, 2025) – The team has been finalized for the 18th edition of the Governor Hugh L. Carey Challenge Cup as Chris DeJohn of Arcola, Adam Friedman of Sterling Farms, Rayee Feng of Fiddler’s Elbow, Darin Goldstein of Deepdale, Hana Ku of Meadow Brook, and Brad Tilley of Sleepy Hollow have been named to the MGA team.
These competitors will join Christian Cavaliere of Hudson National, Mark Costanza of Baltusrol, Ina Kim-Schaad of Deepdale, Corinna Limbocker of Tuxedo, Matt Lowe of MGA eClub – Long Island, and Catherine McEvoy of Innis Arden against Golf Ireland for the matches at Portmarnock in Dublin, October 16-17.

Feng and Ku are newcomers to the MGA International Teams and will be competing in their first Carey Cup. Feng, 17, has had a standout season highlighted by her run to the semifinals in the U.S Girls’ Junior Championship in July. The senior at The Pingry School in Bernardsville, N.J., made the cut at the U.S. Women’s Open in June, and in August advanced to the Round of 16 at the U.S. Women’s Amateur. In 2024, she won the New Jersey Women’s Open and two AJGA titles.
Ku, whose sister Anina competed on the winning French-American Challenge team in 2022, was the on-site medalist and a semifinalist at this year’s NGLA Women’s Invitational in June and finished tied for seventh at the Women’s Met Amateur in June. She qualified for the 2024 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur and had a top-ten finish in the 2024 Women’s Met Open. Ku plans to attempt to qualify for the 2025 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur in early September.
DeJohn, Friedman, Goldstein, and Tilley were all members of the 2024 French-American Challenge team, and DeJohn, Goldstein, and Tilley competed on the winning Carey Cup team in 2023 at Winged Foot.
DeJohn’s season got off to a hot start with a win at the Travis Invitational in May. He finished in the top 10 in the New Jersey Open, was third at the Arcola Cup, and advanced to match play at the Met Amateur in early August. This will be DeJohn’s second Carey Cup and fourth MGA International Team.
Friedman will compete in his first Carey Cup. He captured the Connecticut Amateur Championship in June, advanced to match play at the Met Amateur, qualified for the U.S. Amateur, and recently made the cut at the Met Open.
Goldstein also recorded a win early in the season, claiming the Richardson Memorial title in May. The 2018 MGA Player of the Year had solid performances in invitationals including the Travis, Boff, and a semifinalist finish at the Havemeyer. At the Ike, he made the cut and recently had a great run at the Met Open, finishing in 15th for the championship. This is Goldstein 10th MGA International Team and sixth Carey Cup.
Tilley, the 2022 MGA Player of the Year, is also a veteran of the International Teams; this is his seventh team appearance and fourth Carey Cup. Tilley advanced to match play at the Met Amateur, made the cut at the Met Open, advanced to final qualifying for the U.S. Open, finished seventh at the Azalea Invitational and 12th at the Northeast Amateur, all this season.
The Carey Cup – which originated as the Metedeconk International Challenge Cup – was first played in 1990. The teams played once again in Ireland in 1992 but did not meet in 1994. In 1996, the matches were conducted again thanks to an effort spearheaded by the late Governor Hugh L. Carey, who envisioned the matches as an opportunity to foster sportsmanship and goodwill between the countries. Ever since, the matches have been played in his honor with a spirit of camaraderie and competition.
Golf Ireland was established in 2019 following an overwhelming endorsement by Ireland’s golf clubs. It became operational in January 2021, succeeding the Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI) and the Irish Ladies Golf Union (ILGU) to become the single governing body for golf in Ireland. This is the first year that the team will consist of seven men and five women, an expansion of one man and one woman. Five four-ball and five foursomes matches – three men’s, two women’s will take place on day one and 12 singles matches – seven men’s, five women’s – taking place on the second day of the competition.
The event is scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, October 15 with an “Am-Am,” in which each of the MGA and Golf Ireland players will be paired with three amateurs in a best ball competition. The matches will take place just ten miles north of Dublin. Portmarnock has previously hosted the Carey Cup in 2009 and 1998, with both matches won by the Irish. It has also hosted the 1991 Walker Cup, 19 Irish Opens, the Irish Amateur Close Championship and the British Amateur Championship.
